FSX File Modification to Enable TrackIR

When I first purchased the TrackIR 4 with Track Clip Pro it would not work inside of FSX. I tried all of the un-install/re-install routines in these forums with no luck. I also played with firewall settings with no luck. After 4 days of searching the internet, I found a resource that explained how to modify a particular file to force TrackIR to be enabled in the game. It involved changing one of the settings in the form of Enable/Disable or True/False. I believe this was an XML file.
Due to a system crash, I'm back to the beginning and cannot find the correct file to modify. Does anyone have any idea what it might be?
Thanks,
Bob

Right now I have a clean install of both FSX and the SDK with the current updates on both. No addons have been installed yet. I am also using the most recent release of the TrackIR software.
The TrackIR works great by itself, but is not recognized in FSX.
Thanks,
Bob

FSX and TrackIR 4 doesnt work here, too. I just installed Vista Ultimate 64, FSX with Service Pack 1 and the latest TrackIR Software. TrackIR works fine but doesnt recognize FSX.
Help needed !

Out of curiousity and frustration, I just finished a complete re-format of the hard drive. Re-installed Windows Vista Ultimate 64 with all of the latest updates and drivers for my system. Installed FSX with SP1 and version 4.1.030 - Final B. The TrackIR works great by itself but still is not recognized by FSX (no blue light).

Would anyone know if TrackIR creates or re-writes files for FSX? I'm wondering if there is a file I can modify to force TrackIR to be enabled and/or detected by FSX.

No it doesn't rewrite, or reinstall files with FSX?

Are you all running any firewall/antivirus software?
Have you tried running the simconnect reinstall, that is contained within the SDK?

Currently, I am not running any firewall or antivirus software. I have done 3 complete un-installs/re-installs of FSX, SDK, and TrackIR. This was followed by 5 additional un-installs/re-installs of TrackIR only. Each of these included the removal of all associated files and the registry.
I have run the Simconnect re-install multiple times as well.
I don't think the problem is in either FSX or TrackIR, but in how they communicate to each other. From what I have read, this is occurring mostly with Windows Vista. Is there a file I should be looking for or settings I should be looking at?

Well there is an issue that Simconnect has, that it just will stop working at the network level. Generally, a deletion of the WinSXS FSX folder can resolve the issue, but Vista doesn't always allow you to modify that folder, and the repair installer of FSX doesn't always reinstall it properly either.
Currently, MS is looking at resloving the underlying issue, with the "Acceleration" update release of the software.
