Blue led blinking, status: no data...

Hi,

just received my TrackIR + TrackClip Pro yesterday, installed it as said in the manual, everything was working fine, the tracking showed the 3 green dots very sharply and moving smoothly. I tested it under Nascar Racing 2003 Season and rFactor, worked great. Then I don't really noticed when and/or why, but I saw the TrackIR bottom blue led was blinking, and the TrackIR software indicates "Status : No Data"...

In fact when I launch the TrackIR software, the top led turns green for something like 2 sec, Status indicates "Tracking"... then the top led just goes black and the blue led starts blinking with status now as "No Data".

Today I've formated my computer (had to do it before that, and I thought that would solved my TrackIR problem), installed the software/driver first, plugged the TrackIR (Windows recognized it without problem, installation was ok), then launched the TrackIR software and here we go again, blue led blinking, status : no data...

I'm running the 4.1.030 - Final B version of the software, under Vista Home Premium 32bits.

I don't know what to do right now to solve this... :(

Are you plugging in directly to the system, or are you using a hub?

Have you tried isolating the device on the USB ports?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Could you attach a screen shot of your Device Manager (showing USB), and tracking screen (TrackIR software -> View -> Tracking)?

Hi Vincent,
No hub, it's directly plugged on one of the motherboard's USB port, and no power save feature is enabled (I just checked it).

Just to see what happens, I've unplugged the device and re-plugged it on the same usb port, and the green light is now always on, like it's actually tracking something. But the blue led is still blinking, and I still have "no data" for the status.
Then if I quit the TrackIR Software, the green light goes off. And when I launch the software again, the green light goes on for 2 sec and then goes off, with the blue led still blinking, just like described on my first post.

Also, I've just noticed that although having edited the default profile and chosen "Track Clip Pro" as the tracking device, it still indicates "Tracking: Vector" at the bottom (near "Status: No Data").

See screenshots below (I'm french so the device manager is in french language, hope you'll get it anyway lol) :

Hmmmm, have you tried moving USB ports?

Yes I tried all my ports and it's doing exactly the same thing.
The TrackIR software seems all messed up too, showing "Vector" whereas I chose "Track Clip Pro" when editing profile... Already uninstalled and re-installed it a couple of times and it's still the same. Something is definately wrong.

It will show vector regardless of whether you have vector, or trackclip pro, selected in the profiles. As it is refeing to vector, or 3 dot tracking, which is what they both do.....

Can you try it on another system?

Ah ok I didn't know about "vector", at least something's normal lol ;-)

I just tried it on my brother's computer (which is running Windows XP Pro SP2), it does exactly the same thing... First I installed the software/drivers, when finished I plugged the TrackIR, windows sees a new device and find the driver automatically. TrackIR is recognizes and ready to work, then I see the blue led starting to blink like before. I launch the software, green light goes on for 2 sec, on the software status is "tracking", then green light is gone and status "no data". And if I unplugged and re-plug it on the same usb port while the software is started, green light goes green again and stays always on, but status is still "no data".
It's doing this on all usb ports.

So it seems the problem could be the TrackIR itself ?

Hi again,
I have some news, had some problems lately, my computer would restart by itself after I shutted down and/or won't start immediately when I hit the power button of my tower. I've checked the voltages with speedfan and the 5v is totally messed up... Don't know if it could have caused some "underpower" for the usb ports or something like that (which would explain why the TrackIR was always in stand-by mode with the blue led blinking).

Anyway, I was thinking about upgrading some components soon, and this PSU problem decided me to do it earlier than I thought ;) I'll have a new motherboard, with a new processor and RAM too.

If the TrackIR is still not working on this new system, I think we can say it's defective. I should receive the new components Thursday or Friday, I'll update this thread then to let you know if the problem is gone.
