TrackIR Placement with Large Monitor

Hi all, I just bought a TrackIR 4 Pro for mainly FSX and it is really neat. I am having a problem though. I use a 42" plasma tv for FSX and the only good place to put the unit is on top of the display. With the unit there, it is about 12 inches above my head and about 32 inches in front of my head. When I am using FSX since the TrackIR is above my head whenever I lean forward to zoom, it also makes me thinks I am leaning down as well. It is impossible to stay at the same horizontal level in the cockpit when I do any kind of movement. It is also very eratic. Is there something I can do to fix this. Thank you very much.

Can you try mounting it either underneath, or to the left side of the monitor?

If I mount it underneath, my flight controls and my had brim block it. If I mount it to the side it is between 1 and 1.5 feet to the side of center.

That sould be fine, as long as you can line up the 3 green, on the tracking screen.....

okay, thanks. I have been playing with it and working pretty good. The jet I fly most often for Delta VA is the LevelD 767. When I center the TrackIR when I am in the VC it puts me zoomed all the way out. Is there a way to set it up so that I can change the zoom level when I center the TrackIR. Right now I am zoomed all the way out and I half to move way forward before it zooms in enough to be able to read the panels and switches. I am sure there is a way to make a custom view or something, I will mess with it tomorrow. Thanks for the quick responses.

Well you can move back, before setting the center, then resume your normal position, which would zoom in.

Also you can edit the aircraft.cfg file, to change the standard seat position so that it is more foward.
