High CPU usage all the time

Post by guybo »

I was looking at my CPU usage on another app and noticed that TrackIR is using 10-15% CPU usage and it is just sitting on my monitor right now. It is covered by my Track Hat so it should not be tracking anything. the software is active in the system tray, but I am not using the TrackIr right now. Is this normal? I am using the original install of TrackIR, WinXP (all up to date), Prescot Core Intel 2.8 w/HT, latest version of the TrackIR software and updated games list.

Which version of the TrackIR software are you running?

In the following folder location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles, what is the file size for each profile?

4.1 Build 30

Combat_flight.xml is 1.83 KB
Copy_of_Racing.xml 3.66KB
Default_Profile.xml 1.95 KB
Flight.xml 1.82 KB
Racing.xml 1.68

One thing I noticed when I was checking the version number- The staus keepes flickering between no data and tracking. This is even with my hat covering the sensor.

I moved the hat so it covers the sensor better and the status stops flickering around and the CPU usage is now under 5%. Maybe that was the prob? How can I adjust the sensitivity?

If the camera LEDs are on and you cover up the unit with a hat, it will still be bouncing IR light off the inside of the hat. You can see this effect if you place your hand in front of the camera, with the tracking screen open.

TrackIR software -> View -> Tracking -> Settings -> Light filtering option will turn down the light sensitivity.
