Can anyone tell me how to stream marker set to MB?

Post by spark »

Hello all,

Can anyone tell me how to stream marker set to MotionBuilder?
I couldn't find any tutorial or manual about this.

Thanks

well for starters, the devices should show up under the templates/devices tab in the assets. along side the wacom and 20 or so others that come stock.

if thats not the case, then the plugin is not loading.

the plugin is installed by the optitrack installer into the bin/plugins directory. you should see NatNetLib.dll and OptiTrackMB.dll.

I've found that at least on my copy of motiobuilder 7.5 extension 2, they do not load. neither do vicon's plugins actually. I'm guessing the openreality SDK for extension 2 is not binary compatible with the one for 7.5 and extension 1.

they do load for motionbuilder 7.5 extension 1 and plain old 7.5.

in arena, the "other" tab is where the arena half of the system lives. its a little bit of an odd networking setup. Arena acts as the server. but you still need to feed it an ip address to serve on... presumably to deal with multiple IP addresses (weird). I feed it 127.0.0.1 for the good old loopback adapter as I'm serving locally. then I hit "stream frames" and go back to motiobuilder. in motiobuilder I add the manager device and feed it the same ip address. then I click the Online button, and it goes from red to yellow and starts receiving frames.

from there, its pretty typical motionbuilder optical device stuff.

Hey Brad,
I have found that if you have ext2 - you have to create a directory in the win32 for motionbuilder - and install the plugins there, the default plugins location will not work. (possible for shared plugs, not exactly sure what its for).
(this assumes that you have installed the win32 runtimes of ext2, as the plugin does not yet support x64 (SOON!)).

Other than that you use both plugins (manager and optical)
and where you input the markerset use the words "All"
if you need any additional assistance, let me know.

We will update the installer so it knows about the ext2 plugin directories so its all automatic.

Hi !
I find the next step very confusing. Can you or someone describe the steps in MB? The typical Motionbuilder optical setup stuff is not so obvious. The help is telling me to import mocap file and that the markers load in... do I have to export marker set from arena?

tnxs in adv.

by the way, the optitrack manager is running and receiving data but the optitrack optical I have no idea what to do with...
