'Start' key disabled by SmartNav

I have a problem with my keyboard when I run SmartNav software. It always disables my Start key (LWIN) regardless of what my clicking/hot keys are assigned.

I currently have:

Left Click = Apps
Right Click = Space
Center = F7

Yet, when I try to use my Start key (Microsoft Natural keyboard), nothing happens. If I exit the smartNav software, I am able to press the Start key and get my Start menu. If I start SmartNav again, I loose the feature.

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks,
Chris

Hello Chris,

I have just tested and verified that you have found a bug, congratulations! It looks like the Default hotkeys are always being trapped when the Smart-NAV application starts, even when the actions are assigned to other keys. I have made note of it in our system, and we will look into it further.

It would also help if you could provide the following information :

The serial number of your SmartNAV, and the version of software which you are using.
(I assumed a Smart-NAV 3 using 3.20.008 for testing purposes..)

Thank you,

Smart Nav = 3.2 Build 8. sn# = 19831

Also note that the L-Alt, R-Alt, L-Control, R-Ctrl do not always work for left or right click. You can set them as hot keys, but some of them simply do not 'click' like they should.

What is the bug/fix schedule at naturalPoint?

I kind of have to make a choice between my keyboard or the smartNav, and right now the keyboard has won. ie: the SmartNav is collecting dust.

Thanks,
Chris

Thank you Chris. We have isolated and fixed the bug, however we have not finalized a release date for the next version of the SmartNAV software. There are a number of other items which are blocking the release at the moment. I understand that this is an important fix for you, and will keep that in mind as we move forward.

Thank you for your patience,

Is this a problem with every default hotkeys? It seems to be the cases - which is causing me a lot of problem using softwares that can't remap their keystrokes and I need to use F6-F12... Please let me know if there is a workaround until a new version is posted.
