hi
I am software engineer having an RSI. It has come to a point where i cannot use mouse anymore.
Is this device a good replacement for trackpad / Mice / TouchPad?
I need it for regular office work including internet browsing, software devp using text editors and Emails.

Are there any users who use it for this type of work; apart from gaming?
Your expirences will be helpful.
It would have been really good if we could get a DEMO or something in San jose/CA (bay Area)

thanks

Hello Sam Jo & Co,

The SmartNAV3 is an excellent mouse alternative for the applications you are describing.

The SmartNAV3 was actually designed for use on the desktop. There are many options in the software such as gravity/snap to, scaling x and y axis, and absolute positioning that allow for a very precise and pleasant experience.

There are several options for clicking as well;
-Utilize hot keys
-Use a hand or foot click switch (with the SmartNAV3 AT and EG)
-Dwell Clicking software allows you to hover over an icon and click (only provided with the SmartNAV3 AT)

We also offer a 30 day, no hassle, money back guarantee. This allows you to demo the product for 30 days and return it if you are not satisfied.

Many of our users perform the tasks you mention on a daily basis with their SmartNAV and find it becomes an indispensable part of their life.

If you have any more questions please let us know.

Regards,
Kevin

hi Kevin

thanks for the reply.
I have a few questions.
I work on the computer for 10- 12 hours a day; will moving neck or head to move the cursor so much not cause a neck & head strain?
can i do a click , select & drag text using this device without strain. ? i need to do this a lot

I am not sure how you can get a fine control & fast movement using head or ring in the hand without any refernce unlike the mouse

Please Comment
thanks

You don't have to strain your neck at all. Many of our users have the SmartNAV3 as their only way of accessing their computer and do so with no strains or complaints. We do stress that you relax and become comfortable when using the SmartNAV. You dont need to be tense, as it works best when you are relaxed and using your natural head motion.

The software has been designed to be customized to whatever range of movement suits you.

There are numerous options in the software that allow for you to navigate very efficiently. The gravity/snap to option can be configured to jump to nearby icons. There are also options for hot keys, or dwell clicking, which allow for highlighting, and dragging & dropping with no extra hassles.

The software also has hot keys that allow you to toggle different modes. With the click of a key you can change the behavior of the SmartNAV to be more precise, to be used for scrolling etc...

If you have any more questions or comments please post them.

-Kevin

Hello Sam?,

I am using a SmartNav version 2 and from all posts I understand that version 3 is an improvement. Before you buy check with your workplaces Systems Administrator that he/she will allow you to have "local administrator" rights on your desktop PC. In my experience and from all of comments on the user Forum this is a must as a SmartNav software appears to want to write to the registry/C. drive & normal user & Power user rights won't allow the software to do this.

I am about to post a request on the support Forum to have a lower level of permissions available in a version of the SmartNav software.

If you have RSI it may be useful for you to look towards voice-activated software to give your injury a chance to heal properly. For your interest I wrote a mini review on how Dragon NaturallySpeaking fits in very well with the SmartNav unit from a user's point of view.

I now use the latest version 7.3 of Dragon NaturallySpeaking, its recognition accuracy and ease-of-use is better than version 5 that I wrote about in the post to the SmartNav general Forum. Read my review here http://forums.naturalpoint.com/cgi-bin/ ... 6;t=000028

Cheers, Sean
