Game view looks elsewhere than me with TIR Clip Pro

Hi Guys

I bought the Clip a few months ago and had a lot of frustration with it (not used it once for more than a couple of minutes yet).

I'm pretty sure I have the positioning of both the clip and the receiver correct.

In any game that is TIR enhanced the head movement is very different to where I am actually moving my head. Usually, no matter which direction I look, the on screen view looks upwards and to one side or the other - usually the opposite direction.

In the TIR profile box, there is no unusual behaviour at all - everything looks to me as it should, and as it does with the Vector clip. Heads etc all move as they should - its only in-game that it's all screwed up. (that's FSX, FS9, rFactor, GTR2, LOMAC)

Apologies if this has been asked - most people don't seem to describe their topics very well, so its an awful lot of reading to find something.

Any advice appreciated.

One thing you need to check is under the profiles section (open trackIR, then the tab "profiles", then whatever profile you use e.g. combat flight).

At the top of the new window that opens will be a series of 'buttons' that you can click. Click on the one that says "track clip pro". I know for me, even though I bought the track clip pro, the default option seemed to be "vector" or "dot". Once you have the correct button clicked, go try it again.

You can also click on the box marked "heads" in the same place. That will open a window up showing "your" head (on the left), and the game head on the right. It will show you roughly what the game head will do when you move yours.

Hope that helps.

The term 'eggs' and 'sucking' come to mind ;)

Sorry, guess I should've read a bit closer. Seemed exactly like the problem I was having when the 'track clip' button wasnt selected.

Good luck getting an answer.

No worries ;)

Hopefully Vincent or one of his colleagues will have seen this behaviour before, or at least know a solution.

DITTO!

Same problem as FlashHeart (above) but I just received my Track Clip Pro on Friday past. I had the Vector Clip working great for months now.
The ads promised an even better experience with the USB Pro Clip.
Tried ALL the "tweeks" and settings in them profiles, but to no avail. It is set to "Pro Clip". I did have to set camera to 180 and invert a few axis's, but it still jumps and twitches and I can't look around very far before it flashes to some crazy upside-down angles etc...(the TrackIR is off to the left side of my monitor and everything!)
It's truly "wacky" behavior.
I put back the Vector Clip and that works beautifully(how much better can the Pro Clip be anyways?

I am talking to the supplier now as to whether this unit is perhaps defective.

Thanks,
Ken

OK, first off, it sounds like you have selecte trackclip pro, within the default profile, hence the reason it is working fine within tjust the software itself. What sounds like is happening is that TrackClip Pro is not selected within the orther profiles (flight, combat flight, etc. ) which maybe loading when you start one of the gaming applications.

Ken - You should never have to set the camera to 180 degrees, unless you have it mounted upside down, or behind you.

Looking at the tracking screen what are you both seeing there?

Thanks for the support Vincent!

I did make sure ALL the profiles I use (and the default) in edit were set to TrackClip.
My TrackIR is mounted on the left of my monitor and centered toward me.
I am afraid to turn the ProClip around too far, but when I do this does not make it any better.

I see three green dots on the tracking screen. They follow my movements so it's ON.
Also the "Y" axis (up and down movement) does not work (box is checked, "your head" moves in mirror view, but "in-game head" does not).
Had to disable the "roll" axis as it was way too jerky and irrational.

Distributor McWill Group in Saskatoon, Canada wants me to verify from you (after trying to config) as to whether this may be a defective unit. If so, on your conclusion, they will just ship me another replacement.

Vincent, is the experience with this ProClip that much better than with the Vector Hat Clip?

Thanks,
Ken

The response via the trackclip pro vs. the vector clip is a little subjective. Many people like it better, but some do not....

I would not look at it as being defective....

more of a software corruption.........

Remove the TrackIR software by doing the following:
a. Click "Start"
b. Click on the "Control Panel"
c. Click "Add/Remove Programs"
d. Find "TrackIR" and click "Change/Remove"
e. Once launched it will give the option to completely remove it.
f. Delete the NaturalPoint folder at the following location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint
g. Download and reinstall the software from the following location,
http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06- ... nuals.html

Thanks for the advice, Vincent, I'm going to reinstall it all again (have done several times since I got it, but what's one more, if it sorts it out?).

I'll go through the configs and profiles settings again including your advice and report back.

I'm of course in another time zone here (GMT) - so it may be tomorrow for you guys. I really hope we can get it sorted as it would be much more convenient for me.
