CFS3 and TIR - Getting to work
Posted: Mon Feb 04, 2008 6:14 am
I read through all of the CFS3 threads after having the same problems that many others did with CFS3 and TrackIR4.
PC: EVGA nForce 680i mainboard, BFG 8800GTX (nVidia), 4Gb Corsair memory, Windows XP Pro x64, CH Combat Stick|Pro Throttle|Pro Pedals, Logitech Momo Stearing Wheel, and Logitech Setpoint (keyboard and mouse).
Found that Logitech keybd and mouse sw definitely conflicts with TrackIR and many other apps.
Followed others posts and uninstalled Logitech Setpoint software. Then uninstalled CFS3 (w/3.1 update) and TIR software.
Did "clean" install of CFS3 (and 3.1 update) and TrackIR software. I started TIR and it was working fine. Then started CFS3. Went to the "Display Options" and set my resolution to 1600 x 1200. Clicked OK...and when I looked up the "blue" led (in addition to the green) on my TIR had come on. Sure enough I had full functionality of TIR in CFS3.
Time to load the CH Control Center. Exited CFS3 and loaded CH software. Back into CFS3...and NOTHING. TIR green light on, no blue light. (It worked once and that was it).
After trying all manner of things, I backed into the following procedure that worked for me.
1. Exit TIR software.
2. Re-enter TIR software.
3. Start CFS3.
4. Open Display Options. (For me, turned out that merely opening this dialog box prompted TIR to "hook up" with CFS3. Makes me think there is a video related issue between CFS3, TIR, and possibly nVidia).
I have tried this procedure multiple times, and it continues to work for me. I even went so far as to reload Logitech Setpoint (ver 4.40). Okay....the Logitech sw still conflicts with TIR (I get no response from TIR at all with Logitech sw loaded). However, going to the "tray icon", right-clicking, then "exit"-ing the Logitech software was all that was needed to then run the 4 steps I listed above to activate TIR and connect within CFS3. Therefore when not playing the game, I simply re-start the Logitech Setpoint software.
I realize that this is something that worked for me and may not work for others. But, having been frustrated myself in getting TIR to work in CFS3, I thought I would post so that maybe it would work for others.
