TrackIR Application won't start.

I've tried searching for this and only saw one similar- and because he solved his own problem by unplugging it I didn't see any other recommendations.

I've had my TrackIR and clip for months now, and this month a very irritating problem has developed. My actual TrackIR software will not start after double clicking. I've reinstalled, rebooted, turned off and on, unplugged, and all the variations thereof. The blue light is blinking on my trackIR, and the "trackIR.exe" is running in my processes list (When I attempt to "end process" the process does not end).

Oddly enough I'll reboot, reinstall, and unplug/replug for an hour to no avail- and the next day it starts up and loads like nothing's happened- and my TrackIR and Clip work flawlessly.

I thought this was a software conflict- which it still may be- so I tried in safe mode- same problem.

Conflicting drivers? Any ideas? Thanks for any input, I'm pulling my hair out.

What version of the TrackIR software are you running?

What version of Windows?

In the following folder location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles, what is the file size for each profile?

4.1.030 on XP

Default profile is 5kb. 4 other saved ones are 5, 4, 4 and 2kb.

It was working today, and then ArmA (not sure if only happens when ArmA related)crashed hard. Not the first time the issue has followed a crash, but it definitely has not always followed a crash only. Rebooted and now back to no-application, but .exe in the background, and the .exe is not stoppable. Reboot again and no change. Come sometime tomorrow and for some reason it may or may not be fixed. Weird.

Remove the TrackIR software by doing the following:
a. Click "Start"
b. Click on the "Control Panel"
c. Click "Add/Remove Programs"
d. Find "TrackIR" and click "Change/Remove"
e. Once launched it will give the option to completely remove it.
f. Delete the NaturalPoint folder at the following location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint
g. Download and reinstall the software from the following location,
http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06- ... nuals.html

Hmmm. So you suspect it's something to do with the profiles? I'll try that though, hope it works....

Also- Are you the same guy that's sometimes on the BIS ArmA forums? I needed to PM that person but forgot the name and the post expired it seems.

Worked all yesterday but just tonight when I started my computer (I'd now had it set to run at start up) it failed. Had to use safeboot because the uninstall didn't work completely (start up had the trackir.exe working) to delete the folder. Erased it completely, ran a registry cleaner, reinstalled from the above link. Double clicked the TrackIR icon and back to square 1....

I could reboot and it may work again, I could reboot all night and it may not. I could start my computer tomorrow and same thing- 50/50. Very strange.

If you don't have any ideas that's ok since it's beginning to look like some type of driver or application compatibility thing, but the randomness is entirely perplexing.

Does this occur, if the hardware is not plugged into the system?

Yes, I've unplugged and rebooted many times, and the issue still occurs.

So clean install, hardware not plugged in, and it still hangs during the start of the software.........

Any other applications running in the background?
