Track IR Base broke off

Ok, it finally happened to me. Bought this in early 2006, and it worked fine until the base broke its 'neck' and came off the legs. Looking over the forums, I see many many threads with this exact issue. This is an engineering issue - a very weak, single point of failure on an otherwise excellent piece of electronics.
Strangely, I rarely if ever adjust the angle of the sensor, so it is not plastic 'fatigue' related, and the unit is feather light, so it is hard to imagine a tumble off the back of the monitor caused it - yet it did.
So - I am guessing, that I am SOL on this. Hoping not, but hope springs eternal!
What say you NaturalPoint?
At least re-design the unit a bit and beef up this failure point.
