Calibration Points

Post by velusip »

Performing awkward and slight corrective movement in order to produce a desired on-screen effect. Possible solutions follow:
  • 1. Option in software to calibrate where the TrackIR device is in relation to centre-screen.
  • 2. Option in software to calibrate where Clip Pro is in relation to centre-face.
  • Mount TrackIR in the centre of my screen and bite the Clip Pro.
In more words; A software option to manipulate simple images on a 2D diagram representing corners of the monitor, a head, and two points representing the TrackIR and the Clip Pro 'centre'. Applying math to these points could then dynamically produce curves to track the necessary offset derived from the linear motion between eyes and screen and the angular motion between TrackIR and Clip Pro.

For now I've been placing the TrackIR just in front of my monitor at the base to the left. This tracks the slight downward lean forward better and produces a slightly more linear zoom, but leaves much to be desired.

Let me know what you think. (And if you would like a software demo!)

Hello:

Calibrating out the extact positions of the TrackIR to the TrackClip is something that we have thought about and do feel like it is a good idea. We would like to produce the most exact translation of real world head movment into on-screen movement, and this type of calibration is part of that. So, it is on our list and we will make progress to deliver that functionality in the future.
