Okay rebuilt computer can't find TrackIR

Post by Worf101 »

Okay let me tell you what I've done first.

1. Rebuilt old puter with new mobo, HD's and video card.

2. Loaded lastest TrackIR software.

3. When I plugged it in Windows says device would work better in High Speed USB 2.0 port.

4. This makes no sense as all my ports are usb 2.0 and my Cougar, Teamspeak and externals all work fine on usb ports.

5. Switch usb ports it'll work for a while but when I reboot, TrackIR is dead again.

6. Loaded and used "Regfix" no soap.

7. Wiped, reloaded per instructions in manual. No go.

8. Searched here, tried all fixes. No soap.

I'm now quite stumped. TrackIr4 worked like a champ for almost two years but now won't run without the usb two step and not even then all the time.

Any help would be appreciated.

OK, the warning about the USB 2.0 error, is a false report by the motherboard/chipset, and should be ignored.

So when you manually power down the system, and then reboot, it doesn't see the device on reboot?

What version of Windows arey you running?

What version of the TrackIR software are you using?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Could you attach a screen shot of your Device Manager (showing USB), and tracking screen (TrackIR software -> View -> Tracking)?

To make Print Screen work, you must

I'm ruuning Windows XP SP2

I'm using the lates Betas although the problem existed with the last set of drivers which I tried first.

When I reboot the device TrackIR's been wiped from the USB Root Hub directory.

The powersave feature is NOT checked.

Tried doing a "print screen" but no soap.

Thanks for the response.

Well, the latest software should have the TrackIR drivers located under USB, they should be loading under a seperate listing for NaturalPoint.

Did you do a cleran install of the software (delete the TrackIR folder under c:\program files\)?
