reboot needed?

Hi all,
First time post. I've been using SmartNav for 9 months now off and on. The "off" part of "off and on" is due to the fact that the SmartNav ceases to work after I sleep/wakeup my laptop. It starts working again after I reboot.
I'm on XP and reboots are so painful that half the time I don't bother -- kinda defeats the purpose. I remember when I installed SmartNav I got warnings like "this is not a certified XP driver blah blah blah".
Wondering whether "not certified" is the reason for this problem.
Also wondering whether if I upgrade to SmartNav3, will these problems go away?
Also wondering whether the special upgrade price to SmartNav3 would still be available to me?
