track IR, FS9 and framerate

Hi Everybody!!
I'm pretty new in Track IR world... I have a problem. If i start my flight and i use the default cockpit wiew of avery plane, framerate works fine, at appr. 25 fr. per sec (in my options i have 25 as value). The same if i switch to virtual cockpit... but if i start my trackIR, framerate immediately reduces to very low levels (sometimes, with more complex planes such PSS 777, framerate reduces from 25 to 9 or less!!!!!).
Is it normal??????
My trackir 4 software is up to date!! So it's ok
Systems:
FS9 updated to last version
Windows XP service pack II
Ati Radeon Sapphire X1650PRO
Utilities: Ground environment pro, flight environment, ultimate traffic 2007, Ultimate terrain europe and the most important planes sold in stores or via web....
What's wrong with me????

What version of the TrackIR software are you running?
The software should not drop framerates like that.
In the following folder location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint\TrackIR4\Profiles, what is the file size for each profile?
Are you running any Anti-virus/Firewall software?

Thanx, Vincent, for answering!!!
First, I'm terribly sorry, 'cause I saw your answer today!!!!
So here I am!!
My TrackIR version is 4.1!
Here is my profile's size:
Charvel: 4,48 kb
Combat flight: 1,83 kb
Copy of flight: 3,73 kb
Copy of flight000: 3,73 kb
Default profile: 3,92 kb
Flight: 3,71 kb
Mfs9JD: 4,11 kb
Racing: 3,71 kb
Usually, I use "Flight" profile.
I am running Kaspersky Internet Suite as Anti-Virus and Firewall.
What can I do???????

Do you see the large frame rates drop, when using a default aircraft?
Have you tried a clean install of the software using 4.1.034?
Remove the TrackIR software by doing the following:
a. Click "Start"
b. Click on the "Control Panel"
c. Click "Add/Remove Programs"
d. Find "TrackIR" and click "Change/Remove"
e. Once launched it will give the option to completely remove it.
f. Delete the NaturalPoint folder at the following location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint
g. Download and reinstall the software from the following location,
http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06- ... nuals.html
What type of CPU are you using?

Default aircraft??? mmmmm I don't know. I always use payware aircafts (i.e. Leonardo maddog 2006, PMDG 737ng, LevelD 767, PIC 737), so i cannot compare!! I'll try!
I can only say that I don't see any frame rate drop if I use non-liners "smaller" planes (Justflight Flying club, for exemple) or other freeware little plane, downladed from the web (Piper, Robin, Socata...).
My CPU is an AMD Athlon 64x2 dual core (Graphic controller: ATI Radeon Sapphire x1650 Pro - resolution 1152x864, 32 bit).
I did not install latest upgrade!!!!! When I posted my first message here, the program "told" me that I did not need any upgrade (as I wrote).
Tomorrow, I'll follow your step-by-step instructions and I'll let you know once installed and tested!!!!
Now, I'm going to sleep: here, in Italy, it's 3.30 a.m. (!!!) and I'm pretty tired

as you could imagine!!
Thanx a lot, Vincent!!! You're great!!!

I did all you told me but, unfortunately, nothing seems to change
Maybe I have one or two frames more but it's still a bad framerate (10/11 fr/sec).
But if I pause TrackIR (using F9)... framerate increases immediately up to 20 or so...

Tried increasing the trackir software priority, within the task manager?

PS
I tried to disconnect for only few minutes my Kaspersky internet suite: framerate increased up to 15/16 fr/sec (it was 7!!!!).
Why??
How can I set my antivirus/firewal in order to increase performances of my trackIR?????

Sounds like the antivirus software is trying to block or track network connections on the system. Have you tried setting the trackir and flight software as exceptions within it?
