SmartNav4 - cursor jumps

Hi,

I bought a SmartNav4. But now I'm having trouble using it!
The cursor jumps around, there is erratic tracking because
it sees multiple light sources from time to time. It may be
because it tracks my glasses too.
The control panel has no Advanced Settings panel in order
to correct the behavior. The manual on the CD suggests
using light filtering, but when I try that on a very high
level it either makes no difference or it stops working
alltogether. My older model of SmartNav works just fine
with exactly the same dot on my glasses! It cost less and
it worked a lot better. I'd rather have a SmartNav that
does work allright!
Please help.

regards,
Hans

What version of Windows?

What version of the SmartNAV software?

Is it detected in the device manager?

Are you connected directly to the system, or using a USB hub?

Is it a USB 1.1 connection or a USB 2.0 connection?

Can you send a screenshot of the tracking screen to support@naturalpoint.com?

Hi Vincent,

The SmartNav was meant for a new PC - a Dell XPS 420.
The biggest dot on the tracking frame is adjoined by one or
several small dots. When I move to the edges one of these
smaller dots suddenly turns green, see the screenshot that
I sent to you. When that occurs the tracking rends "No data."

What version of Windows?
Vista Home premium

What version of the SmartNAV software?
v 3.2 build 34

Is it detected in the device manager?
yes

Are you connected directly to the system, or using a USB hub?
directly

Is it a USB 1.1 connection or a USB 2.0 connection?
USB 2.0

Can you send a screenshot of the tracking screen to support@naturalpoint.com?
Of course

I hope you can find out what's going wrong. Pleace bring back
the Advanced Settings panel to correct this behavior like in
the previous versions. Otherwise I must ask you to swap this
one for a SmartNav 3.

regards,
Hans
