Intermittant boot problem - Track IR4 not detected

Post by mel1c »

Sometimes the Triack IR4 does not initialize on boot up, sometimes it does. When it does not, there is no light at all. No error messages. Unplugging and plugging it in fixes it and then it works normally.
I uninstalled it in Device Manager and installed 4.1.035 software and the Track IR. Still have the same issue. I have not determined if there are other conditions that may dictate when this occurs.
Windows Vista
Plugged into USB port, not a hub.

Do you have the latest motherboard bios installed?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

The computer is new from Dell a month ago, and I have not checked the bios.

The power save was already unchecked

In the Device Manager, are the drivers listed under USB, or NaturalPoint?

Desktop. I have not tried a hub, but can. It may take a while to tell if that fixes it, since it is an intermittent thing

Update. I have done nothing, but it has been working normally for 3 or 4 days. If the problem reoccurs, I will try the hub
