Stability Issue TEST results

Hi Guys,

First I'm happy that I have IR set up corrctly, However it appears to be a bit hit and miss from game session to session.

The problem is I can't pan down (Pitch) below a certain position (freezes in that position for a few seconds then releases back to a central position ie Main Panel Capt Seat View) but.......Then after Ive closed FSX down and restarted FSX..... TrackIR will allow me to Pitch up and Down as expected.

Out of ten attempts to start FSX and IR only 2 allowed me to pitch as it should, 8 wouldn't pitch lower than the base of the Main Inst panel and appeared unstable.

Nothing changed during the TEST (i.e. distance from Camera and seating height)..... I have observed however that when I open up IR (in Head mode display) sometimes my head is positioned central and sometimes is twisted and I then have to CLICK on the Track Clip Pro Button in the EDIT window (even though it is already sellected) and it then centers itself.

Im running a resonable system XPS 720, 4gb Ram, Nvidia dual 8800.

Any Ideas as this is driving me nuts!......Oh one other thing I'm also experiencing Random slowdown of my mouse pointer(USB wireless) when I start TrackIR but most of the time its OK I think the last Driver upgrade seems to have helped.

Running TrackIR 4 with proclip and 4.1 Build 35

Sorry its long...... trying to give you as much info as possible

Regards John

Instead of going to the edit screen, have you tried using the center button (F12 by default)?

Looking at the tracking screen (View -> Tracking), what do you see here?

Three green, fairly vertical centered on the screen, no red?

Hi Vincent,

When I'm in the Tracking screen all I have is three GREEN dots No Red (Ive partially closed the Blinds in the room to make sure theres NO in interfering Light)

Ive just Opened Up TrackIR and selected the Heads Window: As you look at the monitor the HEAD image on the Left appears Central and the Head Image on the Right was bowed down at (30degrees).

I clicked on the F12 key to centre the image and an on-screen caption appeared saying: Saved TrackIR (in green text)........However the Head positions remained the same.............UNTIL I clicked on the Edit - Track Clip Pro button and then the Head image on the Right Centred itself and mirrored ALL Head movements.

I closed down TrackIR and Opened it up again, the Head images were almost as before except the Head image on the Right was perhaps at 15 degrees down...BUT this time when I clicked F12 to recentre a Green Band flashed up across the bottom of the Monitor with text saying: FSX .............and then FSX opened, Ive never had this before.

Im runing Vista 32 in DX9 and I Also checked to see that F12 was'nt assigned to anything in FSX (And it was'nt)

If theres anying else you require me to do .....please post.
I really think this is a great product you have and I'm sure its just teething problems.

Kind regards
John

I'm not sure of the error message you are getting, never heard of it, so I would try a clean install of the software.......

Remove the TrackIR software by doing the following:
a. Click "Start"
b. Click on the "Control Panel"
c. Click "Add/Remove Programs"
d. Find "TrackIR" and click "Change/Remove"
e. Once launched it will give the option to completely remove it.
f. Delete the NaturalPoint folder at the following location, C:\Program Files\NaturalPoint
g. Download and reinstall the software from the following location,
http://www.naturalpoint.com/trackir/06- ... nuals.html

Hi Vincent,

As you suggested.....Uninstalled and Re-Installed IR software
(V 4.1B035) and the Results are:

A) Still cannot centre the HEAD in Headview Window using F12 (have to resort to Edit and clicking on the ClipPro button to Center the Heads)

B) Still have a big problem Pitching below EYElevel in a forward view. (The image freezes, the Camera GREEN light goes out, and then the Image re-centres to DEFAULT EYElevel forward view (MIP))

It appears I seem to have far to much PITCH-UP and Hardly any PITCH-DOWN, When I look upto the OVERHEAD panel I can see all the way back to the Rear of the Cockpit almost, But when i look down it Freezes at 10 degrees below Eye Centre. If I pan to the right to view FO seat then this does allow me to pan down a little bit further 30 degrees perhaps.

Incidently the profile Im using is the DEFAULT Flight Simulator X, Ive not Edited the profile at all. Ive also tried IR using a few different aircraft the results are pretty much the same apart from when I pan down as far as possible instead of freezing, the View jumps to the rear cockpit view (the view behind the Pilot/Copilot)

Anything else I can Try?

Many thanks for your time
John

p.s Vincent when in the forward MIP view if a look up slightly to the Overhrad and then Press F12......is the view supposed to jump back to the Forward MIP view? In other word when in FSX what exactly does F12 do?

F12, by default, in the TrackIR sdoftware recenters the view (resets it)

Profile being used - I'm a little confused, are you using the default profile, or the profile that is selected for FSX by default, which is the flight profile?

Do you have the default profile selected to exclusively load?

When youi uninstalled, did you delete the naturalpoint folder as well?

Looking at the view -> Tracking screen. Are the 3 green lined up vertically, in the center of the tracking window?

Clip Pro attached to left side of headset?

Camera mounted to left side of monitor?

Longer leg of the TRackClip Pro on the bottom?

Hi Vincent,

1) Yes I deleted the TrackIR folder before I re-installed
2) Yes the long arm is at the bottom, on the left side of my headphones.
3) Yes the Camera is to the left-side of my monitor so it lines up with the TrackclipPro.

As for the Profile I refer to: This is in the Main TrackIR window under Profiles/Title/Flight Simulator X/(pull down option:FLIGHT).

I decided to play around with the options last night to see if there was any improvement, and there was under ........ Profiles/Title/Flight Simulator X/(pull down option:Combat).

Flight Simulator X/(pull down option:Combat). It was a lot more stable and did allow me to PITCH down to approx 60 degrees this time.

As for the Green Lights in the Tracking Window the top 2 dot are lined up Vertically to one and other with a small gap (1/8'') between them.........and the bottom green dot is below the other two by (1/4'') but out to the left slightly.

The other thing I meant to ask is whether or not the True View button should be selected in the EDIT window?

I'll report back later when I've played around with some of the other DEFAULT profiles.

Many Thanks
John

Are you actually making the changes in the lower section of the profiles tab.

Under the section labeled available profiles.

Hi Vincent,

From day One, the only profile Ive been using is the one outlined below:

Profile Window:
Title: Flight Simulator X
Auto Load Profile: Flight

I copied the above profile so it shows in the available profiles, and then I selected My Copy for exclusive loads.

The thing is Vincent since I last posted I Choose the Profile as stated above, but instead of choosing FLIGHT as the Auto-load profile I changed it to DEFAULLT (as illustrated below)

Profile Window:
Title: Flight Simulator X
Auto Load Profile: Default

And it appears to be a LOT better. It enables me to look Straight down now to the Foot pedals and if a turn to the Floor console I can now view most of that panel, However I do have to Lean forward somewhat to get my Head out of the Captains Headrest, but I guess I can Live with that.

I still cannot reset the Heads in the Heads window to a Central position using the F12 key (I have to go to Edit the profile and select the Clippro Button) which is a bit of an issue when your actually in the flight sim and the other thing thats come to light is I cannot disable TrackIR using the F9 key. When I press the F9 key while in FSX the sim stops, goes to desktop and presents a little window : stating that FSX is already running,

Ive checked all my Buttons/Kneeboard allocations to make sure that nothing is assigned to the F9 and F12 keys so I'm not quite sure whats going on.

I really appreciate the time you've spent on this issue, so for now I'm going to stick with the above mentioned profile and Ill Fly it half a dozen times or so and how it performs also with a few different aircraft.

In the meantime if you've any ideas on the F key issues please post.

Many Thanks for your Patience
Regards John

Just for testing purposes, have you adjustt the hotkeys to something like prtscrn/scklock/pause-break?
