Device Not Detected/ TrackIR Unknown: xxxxx

I've had my TrackIR 4 for almost three years. Recently it has stopped working. I have the latest driver installed. When I open the TrackIR program I either get "No Device Detected" or recently I got "TrackIR Unknown: xxxxx". The red power light is on, the blue game light intermittently flashes and the four IR lights on the face of the device are no longer visible. When I open the "View" menu I get no tracking presentation. When I choose the "Heads" option the heads are there but I cannot get a response from using the reflector. I assume there is something wrong internally with the sensor. Where do I go from here? Oh, by the way, I have the same problem with my TrackIR stand as "Panther69th", meaning the sensor has separated from the base.

Have you tried the device on another system?

Have you tried moving USB ports?

What version of Windows are you using?

Have you tried turn off any kind of power save feature for your USB ports?

In the "Device Manager" you can right click the "USB Root Hub"(s), that show, and then select properties. On the power management tab, uncheck the box that allows the computer to turn off the USB port to save power (i.e. uncheck the box). Sometimes that has an impact on the connectivity of the devices.

Vincent- I am running WinXP Pro on an EVGA 680i Core 2 duo with nVidia 8800 GTS/ 640 MB. I have checked and changed the power mgmnt on the root hubs and changed the usb port I am using all to no avail. But the red power light is on the TrackIR but the 4 camera LEDs are not on on the face of the TrackIR.

Vincent- Also when I open the TIR program the staus at the bottom of the window shows "No Device".Sounds like to me I'll be ordering a new TIR.

Yea, it is starting to look like the firmware chip has had a failure of some kind.

I pretty much thought that's where we were headed. Thank you for your prompt replies. And I really have enjoyed using the TrackIR.
