Hotkeys not working in game.

Hi I've got Vista 64 and I've installed .035 version of Trackir software. This is the first install of Trackir I've done on Vista, so there should be no old files laying around anywhere.
In game (IL2 1946), the hotkeys are not working. I can alt tab out of the game and they work fine, but once I'm back in the cockpit, no joy. I've verified that the hotkeys are not being used by the game as key commands btw.
Any suggestions?
