Hello, I am considering a trial of the unit in a whiteboard/projector setup. Does anyone have an effective distance the Dot will work from the IR units?

Horizontal distance between the camera and the the user should be between 2 to 6 feet. It is also possible to use an IR LED that produces an output in the 850nm wavelength

So this could act like a wand? If the IR Led is used does this increase the effective distance?

A general rule would be between 12 and 15 ft.

Here are a few links to forum topics on our site that talk about getting an active led setup (even includes a few part #'s for Radio Shack)

Those should get your started and give you some background information.
