TrackIR Pro not sensing FSX or FS9

Hello,
I've been using TrackIR 4 Pro with the headset clip successfully for quite some time, but recently had to reinstall Windows XP Pro due to unrelated problems. This initially worked successfully (i.e., TrackIR worked fine in FSX and FS9). However, at some point in the last two days while reinstalling/updating programs, Windows updates, etc. TrackIR seems to have lost the ability to recognize when either FSX or FS9 starts. So what appears on the main screen for current game is "None". In view mode everything looks fine, head moves fine, and I have a green light on, but it acts like the simulator has never started.
So far, I've tried uninstalling TrackIR and reinstalling with the latest drivers, doing a system restore to when I know TrackIR was working, and restoring WinSxS files from a backup when I know TrackIR was working. I've also tried copying over the TrackIR folder from when everything was working. None of these has remedied the problem.
Because both FSX and FS9 are involved, I suspect it's a common file/files that somehow were lost or corrupted. Also, I don't recall if it's normal or not, but when I click on either FSX or FS 2004 profiles the "Axis supported" boxes are all greyed out with only Yaw and Pitch axes showing check marks. I've tried both Track Clip Pro and Vector settings, but still no joy. Any suggestions on what to try next?
Thanks for any help you can provide.
