half a skeleton

Hi,

I looked at the forum but couldn't find related stuf so I ask here.
We want to track just the upper body of a gambist. The skeleton in arena provides the whole body and has the relations between hand arm torso embedded within the definition, which I think causes fewer mistakes then just having a couple of ridgitbodies. Is it possible to define these relations somewhere to create just have of a body. Or what do yo propose, we still have some trouble in capturing without a whole lot of errors in the data.

thx in advance

Pieter

Hello,

Here are steps for capturing upper body or lower body only

1. Create normal 34 or 38 marker skeleton
2. Select Assign button in tool bar
3. Select markers that are of no interest and hit Delete key
4. Remove physical markers(same ones that were deleted in step 3) off the suit.

note: 4 hip markers can not be removed.

If you can send us your capture files(.pt2 and .skl files) you are having problem with, we can take a look.

thanx, we'll try that then.
We are doing some extra test at the moment with the new software. We have 1 skeleton with an extra rigid body consisting out of 3 points, but there are some things we don't understand:
1.
when streaming throught a natnetclient to OSC port we made we have the markerset/all/ and all markers from 0 to 36
and rigidbody/ 1 to 24 and 1, so instead of having 25 unique identifiers, we have 2 times a "1" as identifier, how can we make sure all rigid bodies have unique identifiers?
2.
some of the rigidbodies have a minus before the identifier, what does this mean?

I'm also sending you a txtfile we recorded within max/msp from the natnetclient so you can have a look (to douglas beck)

thx in advance

Upper body motion

Hi,
I would like to record upper body motions of people who sit in front of a table. Should I perform skeleton calibration for each of them? Moreover, since I want to capture upper body only, is it possible to create the upper skeleton only? Or I have to do the four steps for all of them.

You would have to follow the for steps described earlier.

Note the system can only capture 2 people, at one time.
