Hello:

The issue holding us back for native Windows Enhanced mode is that all DirectInput viewing functions want a relative position, not absolute. There are very few games that a native absolute mode will work in, with most of them it causes the view to become very erratic. The underlying systems were just never setup for absolute mode.

Could it be?

Just a thought. Could maybe bypass the need to get native trackIR support in games/applications separately.

It'd be nice if there were one trackIR support for all games whether they have mouselook or not.

Ok i see.

Too bad then, as i suppose i could get used to using trackIR in absolute mode to replace the mouse completely. Just speculation, coz obviously i've only used trackIR on the desktop in relative mode ofcourse.

But trying absolute mode in BoB made me think why it trackIR in enhanced mode couldn't be great for the desktop too?

I'd be curious to know how disabled people who use trackIR would feel about this.

lol!..u get so good at using TiR in Il2 but not to keen using it on the Desktop as it is.....learn
Actually i`m disabled (argument with a circular saw...bye bye hand!) and would like an absolute mode for Desktop to try out if it ever becomes a possibility. Shame keymapping disappeared as well because it was quite useful having 4 fingers on my head for in game buttons. Ahh well, ill probably have to go learn some C++. I know some VB and did write an app to emulate the cursor keys using the ObjectTracker.ocx but my programming skills are crap and it used 75% of cpu`s resources Hmm...i might try again,
planetsourcecode.com here i come!

p.s. Is there a new V2 SDK with example code i can play with?

Point taken

nevertheless i still use it quite regularly on the desktop accessing menus as well, replacing my mouse. But funnily enough i still use the buttons on the mouse to click and doubleclick. It's simply easier for me

It's just that now having seen how nice it is in enhanced mode made me think it could be as nice as well on the desktop. I never used the keymapping myself though but if it worked for you it seems a shame that it was omitted in the new software. I'd simply use the previous software versions with it enabled.

It's good to read opinions from the perspective of a handicapped user!

Cheers !

It's simply easier for me I have my main optical usb mouse but also have a small ps2 cordless mouse plugged in with the ball taken out. If im using the TiR on the desktop i can then sit back in my chair with the ps2 mouse in my hand for clicking duties.

Guys:

This is good feedback, just letting you know someone is listening.

We are starting to spec out the new smart-NAV software now. There is great debate over adding absolute mode to that software for cursor positioning.

DNME; we can position the cursor in an absolute manner on the desktop, but this only works on the desktop, it doesn't translate into all games and if you are using it in absolute mode then most all games will puke on the cursor position. Hope this makes sense.
