I've adjusted yaw to a slightly less progressive track and have slightly relaxed the pitch smooth track. All others are stock smooth. The only "mod" I've done is to use a different type of reflective tape over the original, increase the height of the target to 1/2 inch and extended the curvature of the target to apprx. 5/8 inch each side from center. Smoothing is set at 25 value. I check the tracking to make sure it's centered and I'm square to the monitor, not moving until the trackir has started working in the sim. In doing so, I find that when entering CFS3, Korean Air War, OFF3 and any of the MS/FS sims, I'm already centered and during the time I'm in the sim, I haven't had to recenter the trackir.

Is the above a result of the "mod" I've done? Is it working in conjunction with coding similarity of the games, scan refresh rate or am I just lucky? Has anyone else had a similar experience?

This weekend, I'm going to install an "old" sim that's not MS origin that has mouse look option and see if I get the same results.

My guess, is just a matter of good timing.

I'm beginning to wonder.

I used same setup in First Eagles and the response was the same.

Mouse emulation was different, as expected, but not bad. I'm using WWII Fighters as baseline. I found that there was a shift in response as the reflectors came close or were on their edges.
So I "modded" again. I used a Q-Tip body so I could roll the tape giving the edges of the reflectors rounded shapes.This tightened up the response and made viewing better.

Back in the other 2 sims, I've now been able to break contact with transmitter 4x's, re-entering centered 2x's.

No more "mods" for the time being.

Next I start to mess around with settings in earnest.
