Setting up a CAVE

Hi all,

We're setting up a CAVE, for which we're planning to use two trackIR devices to track the user's head position, so I'd like to know a few things:

- What's the real maximum tracking angle (not the software scaled value that I get trough the SDK API representing virtual +-180 degrees) of the trackIR cameras? (i.e: How much the left head in the "heads" window rotates when I turn my head (say left) to the maximum) (same for pitch and roll), as I can see it's about 45 degrees for all three axes.

- We're planning (if that's true) to use two cameras to get a real 180 degree rotation range and so a better user experience, our software will get the actual head position and rotation using the information from the two cameras, any suggestions on this?

- As you may know from my previous post, we're using TrackIR SDK with V100 cameras and Vector Clip, is it worth to switch to OptiTrack SDK?

Thanks in advance

Hi radeX,

The bulk of your questions have been answered in your other thread:

However, to address the head angle question: my experience has been that it's possible to track a standard TrackClip to about +/- 50 degrees left and right before tracking is lost.
