Sudden unexplained slow down/lag (TIR5)

Hi all,
I have an odd issue using TIR5 + latest beta software, on Win7 64 bit, 8gb ram, Q6600 @ 3.7ghz and dual 8800GT's in SLI.
Basically, I'll fire up TIR5 then FSX and hop in the cockpit. All works perfectly well for a little while then all of a sudden the view will start lagging... as in I look to the right, then verrrry slowly the view will pull to the right as if my avatars head is in a bucket of molasses. The view is slow and lagged a good few seconds behind my actual movements.
This happens at random, and the only way I've found to fix it is to tab out, then close and restart TIR, which is a nuisance especially since it does the same thing again within a few minutes. It seems to be random, although I can almost always make it happen by switching from internal to external view in FSX then back again.
Any idea how to fix this, or what might be wrong?
