Streaming address on the local machine

Hi
When I run the tracking tool and natnet ClientSample3D.exe on the same machine, I cannot connect to the server when I am using 127.0.0.1 as the IP address for both the server and the client. I must set the address to be empty string so it will work. Can you explain this please?
When I am using Arena, 127.0.0.1 is fine.
Thanks

For NatNet servers/clients to correctly use the local loopback (127.0.0.1), both Server and Client must use it.
When streaming data from TrackingTools using NatNet, TrackingTools assumes the first detected network card IP address. You need to set the client to use this same address.
(you can find this out using ipconfig /all from the command line)
Arena gives you the choice of using any of the detected IP addresses or the local loopback, which is why you are able to use it correctly in Arena.
Hope this helps,
Morgan

The upcoming version of the Tracking Tools has added a drop-down that lets you select your local network interface to 'preferred', 'loopback', or any of the detected local network interfaces.
