Light Filtering and pro clip help please

Hi, ive been a trackir 4 user for several years, and ive always had light filtering issues that prohibit me flying during daylight hours unless the weather is dull or over cast. I know the problems stem from ambient light be reflected off palm trees out side my windows, and the blinds dont provide full blockout.

I currently use the TackIR v5b final software in conjunction with my TrackIR.

Anyway appart from replacing my blinds at some exspense, or calling in a naphalm strike on my garden. Can you tell me would replacing my vector clip, with a Trackclip Pro offer me an improved ability to use my TrackIR with my ambient light predicament? or should I just create a dark skin for my aircraft and fly with a fruit bat logo on my tail

Is there a positive to adding a Trackclip Pro apart from not having to wear a hat?

Using the TrackClip Pro allows the cameras IR leds to be turned off, unfortunately it would not help with added IR light coming from the window.

It is possible--though not guaranteed--that a TrackClip PRO could help in this situation. The TCP puts out more IR light than the standard TrackClip can reflect, so you can filter out more ambient light with it without disrupting the tracking. There is a way to test whether this will help you before purchasing:

The standard Light Filter Threshold for the TCP is 240 (compared to 150 for the standard TC). With your blinds closed, on a sunny day, set the light filtering to 240. If you can see a bunch of light in the Camera View, then a TCP isn't going to solve your problem. But, if increasing the threshold to 240 blocks out that unwanted ambient light, then you should actually benefit from a TCP.

Yes Seth your comments make sense and were quite helpfull, and I can filter ambient light when set the threshhold above 210. So I think I'll give the TCP a go I guess.

BTW, is there a downside to maxing out your light filtering? and if not then why doesnt the software default to a high value light filter.

yes turning it up too high can cause the software to also block the IR light from the TrackClip/TrackClip Pro, and prevent the camera from tracking properly.
