Two dots?

Forgive me if this has been asked already...
Since I shift a lot in my chair, have you guys thought of using two dots, one of them being a "reference dot"? The reference dot could sit on my shoulder while the real dot resides on my head. Rotation could then be determined by the position of the real dot relative to the reference dot, as opposed to its "absolute" position in the field of view.
Provided the game allows it, this could also allow for sideways and up/down movement since both dots move together in that case.
