New joystick or mouse emulation system

Hello, and sorry for my english (is not good). I go directly to the problem:

Joystick emulation using Tirjoy2.exe v1.2 is a solution to emulate joystick using TrackIR. But TrackIR used like joystick is difficult to control, because is difficult to find the right center position. In games like flight sims this is a little problem, but if you want to use joystick emulation in other games (like half life 2, using these commands: http://www.onlinegamecommands.com/halfl ... usejoy.htm ), the problem will be bigger... you will notice what problem Im writting.

Yes, this is not a TrackIR problem... Tir2joy works like another joystick... but TrackIR manipulation is not like another joysticks. If you move 5 your head (looking for the center position), half life will rotate without stopping. You cant center the possition like other joysticks, and reducing the threshod of the axes is a very bad solution if you want the precise movements that TrackIR can offer.

I think there are no solution for games to solve this problem using joystick emulation, but there are another solution, but using MOUSE emulation. Think about the F9 key using IL-2 sturmovik. F9 changes the use of the pan view keys num4, num6, etc.

I think that a good and "a must" implementation to trackIR software would be to make possible the mouse emulation, but not using emulation like joymouse.exe or joytokey.exe, or the emulation that TrackIR drivers 3.x offers, because we are in the same problem written up. The solution would be to emulate the MOUSE PUTTING THE CURSOR ALWAYS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCREEN IF YOUR HEAD IS CENTERED, and moving the cursor always refered to this center. Think about the joystick preview when you calibrate your joystick in the Windows "joystick control panel".

This Is the only way to have precission with TrackIR using a mouse. A good TrackIR mouse emulation cant be done with a previous joystick emulation like joy2key... must be emulated like trackir. Think about what would happend if you move your head only 5 using the normal TrackIR software 4.x, and the "in game-Head" windows would rotate your head 5-10-15-20- etc without stopping (impossible to control the FS 2004 views)

We would be able to play games like hallf life 2 using the normal mouse (I use logitech dual optical), and the TrackIR mouse emulation to help movements. It would be like if you use two mouses at same time, controlling the same cursor.

Sorry for the big explanation.... I cant use less words to explain what I can say.

Great post. We are interested in making the TrackIR work with Halflife 2 and other similar games. We have some options, but nothing is working that well yet. I will pass your comments onto the developers.
