Updated software problem
Updated software problem
Hello,
I just purchased the 3 marker wand and downloaded the latest update of the Arena software. I tried several times to calibrate the cameras yesterday with no luck. I kept getting "Poor Quality " no mater what I did or how I did it. Also when I did click apply I was never presented with a secondary window to "Apply and Refine" as the video showed. Plus while wanding there did not seem to be any indicator as to when the wanding should stop as in the old software when the color would turn red when it was done.
The software also crashed several times while calculating.
I then tried to uses the old single marker wand with the new software and the same problem occurred I kept getting poor quality. So I re downloaded version 1.5 and everything worked fine with that version so I don't think it is my system. I am using a 12 camera set up in a square grid. The top camera are set up in portrait and the low cameras are horizontal
Please advise.
Thank you
David Love

Re: Updated software problem
If you can provide some additional information it would be helpful :
What version of Windows are you using?
What camera type?
What camera lens?

When using the 3-marker calibration the camera feedback panel will change color and its status text to reflect the wanding coverage progress. A good point to cease wanding and start calculation is when it changes green and states "Sufficient for Quality : Very High".Plus while wanding there did not seem to be any indicator as to when the wanding should stop as in the old software when the color would turn red when it was done.
Re: Updated software problem
I am using Windows 7 Home edition. I have a Toshiba laptop with a Intel i7 chip and 4 gig of ram.
I have the Flex: V100r2 cameras. I have no idea what lens, what ever came with the camera. We purchased back in February if that helps.

Never saw anything resembling what you described above.

Re: Updated software problem
Sorry I found my invoice.
What it says for cameras is: Flex:V100R2 Red, 46.2 FOV 4.5mm

Re: Updated software problem
I'll let Vincent continue to troubleshoot with you on this, but one quick note on the "Apply and Refine" question. The video you watched is actually detailing the new calibration in the Tracking Tools application. ARENA utilizes the vast majority of the calibration module, but it does vary in a few areas. The calibration product page outlines these, but in short:
- ARENA does not support all of the real-time visualizations that Tracking Tools offers--specifically wanding and error in the 3D view.
- ARENA does not have the ability to continuously apply the calibration results, which means that it does not have the "Apply and Refine" feature. With ARENA, you simply wand until the quality of the samples is sufficient (excellent or better, if possible), and then apply the results. They will not continue to refine afterwards.

Please send in a copy of your calibration, skeleton, and pt2 files, to support.

You had indicated that when you tried performing even a 1-marker calibration in Arena 1.6 that it was giving poor results compared with a 1-marker calibration in Arena 1.5. If you select the "save wanding data" option when running Arena 1.6 it will allow you to save wanding data which you can send to us for review.
