What I do is this: I put a biped in the scene, select any part of the biped.. go to the tab that looks kind of like a wheel.. at the bottom there's a button that looks like a camera, which is to import an animation file..change the default to bvh.. choose your file and import.
When you do this, it will change the structure of the biped to conform to the bvh file you are importing. Once you bring it in and make sure that everything works ok... you save that file as a .bip (which then can be used on any character that uses biped)
I'm not in front of my pc with max, so I can't give you a more detailed walkthrough, but I can if needed later..
Hope this helps

I use the same way to get a mocap data in to the biped. just import a mocap BVH file into biped and save it as a BIP file. this works well so far. If anybody knows any path better than mine, please let me know.
thanks
