Active Reflectors

Post by Riko »

Hello all,
I've read the FAQ regarding the the active reflectors (LED), and not sure this is the right forum to post in...

We're tracking the motion of various toy vehicles , and wish to better track the markers, and so considering the option to convert to Active Reflectors, and turning off the LEDS on the cameras.

My benchmark is a 7/16" marker, and I'd like to know if there is any option on the software or hardware to measure the intensity of the signal coming from the capture volume via a single camera.

I'm obviously varying the amperage coming to the LED according to it's specs limits.

Thanks so much,

Riko

If you want to measure how bright an LED in the scene appears to the camera, the options will depend on both the camera you are using (FLEX:V100 R1 or R2) and the software as well (OptiTrack SDK, Tracking Tools, Arena).

In general you can try switching the camera to mjpeg, grayscale, or precision grayscale mode. From there the easiest thing might be to inspect the displayed camera image using an on-screen color picker such as the one linked below. The bright value would be 255,255,255, the darkest 0,0,0.
