TrackIR FSX performance

When I fly without TrackIR running I can get 18-25fps in Aerosoft's London X on full scenery density, but with TrackIR running this drops to about 8fps.
Are there any tips for improving performance?

Are you running the Tracking software minimized?

Yes, minimized or maximised makes no difference - it's about a 10-15fps hit running with TrackIR with everything else the same (aircraft, location etc).
I might try playing with the affinity mask to put FSX on three cores so that TrackIR has one mostly to itself.
I only noticed this as I'd reinstalled FSX and had been flying a few times without TrackIR, I'd previously just thought my machine was slow.

1 - always run the IR software minimized, when runing a gaming application.
What version of the TrackIR software are you using?
What version of Windows?
Do you have SP1/SP2 installed for FSX?

It's build 5.0.300 (build 6225) on a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate - 64bit. I have Acceleration, so that includes SP1 and 2.
I had similar performance on trackir 4 software.

Yes, I have ultimate traffic 2, Rex 2 (with weather radar turned off) and a saitek radio panel, I also have lots of aircraft, but this occurs with the default cessna.
Can't think of anything else I have that would be running as a separate process.
My machine is a q6600 with 4gb ram and an nvidia 9800gt

Was wondering if you have any app, that also does view control, view modification, or movement control

what is the percentage of system resources the TrackIR is using on your system, when minimized?
