FSX and Tir 5 working properly, but its like trying to fly with my nose up against the glass. Tried the ctl/enter keys to no avail. Whilst the view is nice, its extremely difficult to see the instruments and keep control at the same time. Any one had experience of this or have any tips please?

Right, so it looks like I have to spend a weekend editing aircraft .cfg files. I'm starting to wonder if this is all worth the effort!
So where do I find the aircraft .cfg files in FSX?
I find it hard to understand that, if this is common, why have'nt Naturalpoint edited the aircraft config files for at least the default aircraft in FSX, and made it available for download?. After all, its Track ir thats causing the problem.

The "problem" isn't the TrackIR itself, but the controlling application within FSX, Simconnect. When it detects a device/application that is designed to use simconnect to control the view, it sets itself at the aircraft's eyepoint. It then only allows that simconnect enabled device to control the view. So the TrackIR hardware is tied to the view point itself, within each aircrafts specific setting.
For us to setup individual configurations, for each aircraft would not be possible for several reasons.
1 - These are Microsoft files, not NaturalPoint files.
2 - Each persons invidual preference is going to be a little different.
-------------
The files can be located here
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\SimObjects\Airplanes

Thanks for the reply Vincent. I can understand your point that these are MS files, but surely, even if each user has a preference, a good start point would be to at least allow users to see the instruments as a default!
If I had known that I needed to do all this, I would have seriously considered whether to buy the TIR, Flight simming is, after all, supposed to be fun!
Thanks anyway.

As a temp fix, you can also move your head slightly foward, recenter, then move back to your normal sitting position....
