mouse emulation is not smooth

Mouse emulation is a very usefull thing for many games, but I cant use because the jerky framerates that it produces.

Only in games with mouse filtering option this can be used, but all we know what it mean.

I cant understand how a hardware that can give us 120 fps, descend a lot this fps with mouse emulation. Any old IR mouse can give too much better smooth than this TrackIR mouse emulation.

Im not very sure what Im saying, but the result is a poor smooth in games (the objetive), and I think it can be too much better.

Another solution would be to introduce a "mouse filtering" option in the TrackIR driver. Increasing the "smoothing" option in the profiles option only increase the problem.

I can't understand why you can only complain? I look at your recent posts, all complaints, not a thank you or worthwhile productive post among them.

Games that are not officially supported, do not work perfectly, well lets complain about it!

The TrackIR is a great product and your consistent moaning wont make it better

Maybe you should make your own head tracker since you seem to know how they should work.

IMHO

I received a call today from someone who was slightly confused by this thread. It should be pointed out that the 'mouse emulation' that mopheta is referring to is a feature for the TrackIR hardware/software only and not at all related to the SmartNAV.

The SmartNAV software has many different settings for adjusting your movement speed and smoothing settings and allows for complete computer control using only your head motion. The mouse control for SmartNAV is very smooth and accurate.

We have quite a few testimonials up from satisfied SmartNAV users here: http://www.naturalpoint.com/smartnav/pr ... nials.html

There is also a thread dedicated to games you can play with the SmartNAV here:

If you have any SmartNAV related questions please feel free to email me kevin@naturalpoint.com

I am surprised!!!.... sorry for my english, and sorry if my words seem to be something not productive, "TrackIR_luvR". My only objetive is to write about a problem that I find.

All we know the good things that this hardware and software give us.

And I dont understand the confusion with SmartNAV... I wrote this thread in the "Feature Request/Development" section in the TRACKIR forum (not SmartNAV forum).

All I can say is that Im very happy with the inclusion of the mouse emulation in the TrackIR driver, and the result is very satisfactory (the better emulation since today for TrackIR). The only problem is the poor smooth, and this make the emulation not very usefull.

I think that can be too much better. I think that, to solve the difference between TrackIR and SmartNAV, the TrackIR driver would can recognize any direct3D or OpenGL aplication to enable this mouse emulation, so only for games would can be used. Would can be as smooth as SmartNAV, but only for games.

But this is only a feature requested (like the forum name has). I will be happy with this product in any way.

I hope people understand if I dont write about the good things (we all know).

And I must remember, also it is "off topic", that the support is excellent. I was replaced the base of the hardware (it was broken because I blend it more than it support, to adapt to my TFT monitor), and it was replaced me quickly and with no aditional cost.

I cant say anything wrong about this company. I have spoken a lot of good words to many friends, and Im very happy with this buy.

Thank you for the feedback about the Mouse Emulation utility in the TrackIR software. We will look into the "jerky motion" problem that you describe. We will more directly compare the operation of the utility to the older Mouse Emulation in our 3.0 software, which was well received. Perhaps there is a difference that we did not notice right away. If you would like to download the older software and compare, please do, I would be interested in your feedback.

Thanks Jim. Ive downloaded 3.13 version, and Im surprised that works better (and it is not enhanced) than 4.1 build 25.

I have no idea why 4.1 works so jerky (I suppose that not only for me).

For the moment I have the two versions installed, and I use 3.13 for mouse emulation in games.

I have always understand that enhanced profiles works with better tracking (more frames per second tracked) than "not enhanced", so If 4.1 can solve this problem will be with better smooth than 3.13?.

It is not my objetive to make any criticism (I say this because if anybody think that Im demanding always more and more.... well, I recongnize that I do, but dont understand in the wrong way).

Games demand the best hardware posible, and concerning to TrackIR, they demand the best posible smooth (if we want to see this mouse emulation really usefull for games).

I remember that Im happy enought with the 3.13 results. Not perfect, but more than enought to close the demands about mouse support.

Thanks for doing the comparision. We will work to make the Mouse Emulation in 4.0 software the same as it was in 3.0.
