Strange issue

Hi All,
I am having a strange issue that I have not seen before.

I have been using the TrackIR 5 and the track Clip Pro for a longtime now and actually use 2 different TrackIR 5's on my flight sim and my driving sim.

Here is my current issue, my driving sim is Windows Vista 64bit, I am using an ATI HD5970 graphics card with the latest drivers. I am using the latest TrackIR 5 drivers.

The TrackIR 5 and track clip pro was working fine, then for a completely unrelated reason, I need to do a complete fresh install of the whole system. After the reinstall the TrackIR 5 is now not functioning properly.

By not functioning, I mean that the software starts up fine, and you can see the three green dots in the camera tracking window, and the green led is on, on the camera so the software is detecting the Track Clip Pro. But when I move my head it takes a long time to register any head movement and it moves in a jerky sort of style about every 4 or 5 seconds, and suddenly to a position that my head is not at now, but was before.

I have tried both my other camera and my Regular at mounted Track Clip and it is the same.

I am using a gigabyte UD7 motherboard, and the only real difference I can think of between, the setup now and the previous setup, is that I updated the motherboard bios to the new one, and I am using the the 10.10 ATI graphics drivers.

Any pointer would be helpful.

Thanks

Is the device connected directly to the PC, or using a hub?

Have you tried seperating the TrackIR, and the TrackClip pro to separate USB connections?

Any other USB devices plugged in next to the TrackIR hardware?

No other IR points detected inthe camera view?

Congo_Toey->> It is connected directly to the PC, I have tired all of the USB ports, with same result.

Have you tried seperating the TrackIR, and the TrackClip pro to separate USB connections?

Congo_Toey->> They are already separated as I connect the TrackIR 5 to the rear of the pc and the track clip pro to the USB port on the front.

Any other USB devices plugged in next to the TrackIR hardware?

Congo_Toey->> Dont exactly know what you mean here, but I am assuming that you are asking if there are other USB devices connected on other USB ports on the back on the PC, and the answer is yes, I have a lot of things like Keyboards, mice, game controllers etc connected to the the REAR USB ports, but that has not change since before I did the reinstall when it was working fine.

No other IR points detected inthe camera view?

Congo_Toey->> Nope there are no other IR points detected in the Camera view.

Have you tried a clean install of the software?

Uninstall -> delete the NaturalPoint folder -> reinstall?

Does this occur with both the 5.x and the 4.1.037 TrackIR software?

Well it was completely new install of the whole computer, so yes it was a clean install.

Since I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling when connected to different USB ports.

I didnt delete the directory I will try that tonight.

I also have not tried using the older software, as I normally always use the most recent one, and it has been working fine for a long time, so didnt think about that. If the clean reinstall does not work then I will try that.

Thanks for your suggestions, I will get back to you later and let you know how it goes.

OK Tried the uninstall and reinstall of version 5.x still no joy :(

Also tried uninstall of version 5.x and install 4.1.037, this has some interesting results. At first glance it seems that this worked, however after trying to use, somethings odd happened and when I went back to the trackir software itself, I saw that was happening here as well.

As I said it looks ok, until you turn your head to somewhere like 20 degrees left or right and then the movement sort of sticks and then free's up again after you move your head a bit more, it is quite unusable just because of this one factor. If you look at the camera view you can clearly see the three green dots moving around even when it sticks. I tried several different camera positions still with no joy.

Any further idea's??

Well it seems if I use version 4.1.037 and I use the regular hat clip IR reflector then it works.

However I spent good money on a my track clip pro, so I would really like to use it. Also version 5 of the software is so much easier to use.

So any ideas how I can get back to using both version 5.xx and my track clip pro??

Thanks.

Camera moved to the left side of your monitor, and alined with the TrackClip pro?

TCP, centered in the camera view, 3 green fairly vertical, with the longer leg pointing down?

yes the when using the track clip pro, which I have been using and know how to use for well over a year now, the camera is set to the left and yes the three greens are pretty close to vertical and the longer leg is pointing down as usual. It is just sticks around about 30% left or right yaw, but the Hat mounted track clip does not
