Cam's FOV differences in same setup - is it a problem?

Hi to all,
Right now my 8 V100r2 cams has 46.2� FOV (4.5mm) lenses. I am going to order 10 new V100r2 cams with 57.5� FOV (3.5mm). Is using mixed FOVs (4.5mm cams with 3.5mm cams) in same setup supported? Can I use them together without any problems?

You can definitely mix cameras with different lens types. If you have a square setup (like a truss-based rig), I would recommend positioning your 4.5mm lensed cameras in the corners, where they will be further from the capture volume. Keep the 3.5mm lensed cameras in the positions closer to the capture volume (like the middle and lower positions). This will help normalize the effect of their different FOVs, and it will take advantage of the higher resolution of the 4.5mm lenses while minimizing the smaller FOV.

Hi Seth,
thank you for your comments. I have a few more questions.

My setup area dimensions are; 17' x 12'.
Do you still recommend 8 cams with 4.5mm + 10 cams with 3.5mm lenses? Or ordering extra 8 pieces of replacement 3.5mm lenses for my current 4.5mm cams? By doing that, I will have 18 cams with 3.5mm lenses. Is that better in terms of having a larger capture volume?

Considering your smaller physical setup, I would definitely go with all 3.5mm lenses, if possible. 12' is particularly narrow, so you'll want that wider FOV to maximize your space as much as possible.

Make sure and watch the lens changing tutorial video so you swap your current lenses out properly, if you do go that route.
