Hello,

I was wondering if it was possible to stream facial mocap from Arena Expression to MotionBuilder and turn the head movement off so that only the face bones are affected? I know that it is possible to export to C3D and turn it off there, but I was really hoping to capture to MotionBuilder live.

Unfortunately, what you're wanting to do is not something that is "officially" confirmed or supported at this time. There is a possible pathway, but some users that have tried it have encountered different issues (in particular jitter). If you care to try:

- turn off rigid body data in the Expression streaming pane to get markers in global position

- turn on local marker data to get marker data relative to root bone of head rig in Expression

This will prevent the rigid body data for the root bone from streaming, but still process the face optical data relative to that root (so the markers are only moving according to their own translation, not the movement of the head). Again, some users have reported that jitter is being introduced into the data when this steps are combined before streaming out of Expression, so your mileage may vary.
