I have the TrackIR 4, and after talking with Vincent at customer service they want $50 + shipping to repair a unit that is worth about $70 on the used market. The head-to-base mount broke, which seems like an engineering issue with the newer ones also.
I want to fix this myself - where can I buy the parts? I'm not buying a new one.
Where can I get parts?

Hi hex,
The parts required for this repair are not available for purchase, I'm afraid. If your unit is outside of warranty, and you don't want to purchase a new one, you might consider looking on eBay or asking around on some of the more active sim forums. I see slightly used units for sale occasionally.
Regarding the new unit, TrackIR 5 has a magnetically attached base, which was designed to prevent breakage in the event of strain on that part of the unit.
