Hi all,

I used to be in contact with Jason, but since he's left I've had no information relating to BF2 developments.

If someone could please inform me that'd be great Many thanks in advance, and keep up the great products.

Cheers

I actually came to the board to see if there was any battlefield 2 support planned for the future.

I'd definately like to see trackir in bf2. it's a very look-around-ish game. much more so than most flight sims i've played (very close in, very maneuverable). i'd love to have trackir support in bf2.

Hello:

We have made an internal mod for BF2, to test things out, but haven't had that much success with it. We know that TrackIR could be awesome in this game, but we need help from the developers.

Jason is no longer here, but you can email me at jim at naturalpoint dot com.

hmm.
funny thing is i was thinking of doing a mod too... (just for kicks since there is no ability to use it ont he official servers)

what i was thinking is :

the basic sdk didn't seem to have any info on a python interface, so i was thinking inside bf2 have a python script to open a socket connection (if bf2 allows it) to the localhost.

have a c++ app that reads the sensor, turns the data into whatever format i need (i guess 6 float vector. pose), and just feeds it to the socket.

then in the scripts for bf2 where you can change the camera pose, have it modified to always freelook, and to read the camera pose from the python class instance that is connected to the trackir server.

anyways, i have no idea how bf2 is done, other than it uses python (not sure if *everything* is allowed in it. i can imagine they blocked some stuff to make cheating harder). haven't tried to make it happen yet, so this is just my gut-approach.

I use trackIR in BF2 all the time, just get ther version 3 software and use "mouse mode" and your track-ir aims for you.
