How to get rid of sliding feet

Hi Folks,
I am very new to motion capture using the Optitrack/Arena system and I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong forum. We have been successful in capturing several action sequences but we are having difficulty getting clean movement when we import the .bvh file into Max 2011. The sequence of steps for importing the .bvh files is to import it onto a biped then save the motion data as a .bip file, then reapply that .bip data to a new biped. Everything goes as planned except that the new biped exhibits footsliding in all frames including those where it is standing still.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to sidestep these issues?
Thanks in advance for any help in this matter,
Alan
