TIR 5 software not working

After using TIR4 without major problems for 4 years (stopped working)
i now payed 200� for a new TIR 5 today and guess what:it�s software crashed my pc...
i tried the compatibility mode and that made everything worse
drwtsn32.exe error and thats it..what the..

I searched for it but don�t know where to find it..

No problem. Find your "my computer" or "computer" icon (depending on your version of windows), right click on it, and select manage. This will load the system management console. From there, you can access your event logs.

Windows will normally keep a few standard logs, plus any that are managed by windows due to any software you have installed. In this case we want to look for the application log.

The logs default to sorting by date, so if you can narrow down the approximate time of the crash, that will be a good place to start. Once you have the time, look for anything around that time with an error or warning heading, or anything generated by trackir5.exe or your game's executable. Open the entry, copy the information, and post it here for review.

This is indicitave of a known issue, not with the TrackIR, but with the ATI driver software and it's inability to properly process OpenGL, as documented here:

The work around for using compatibility mode was a way that one person was able to fix the issue on their computer, but by no means is a tested and recommended workaround for the majority of systems. Unfortunately, the only real solution is either to replace your video card with an nVidia or other video chipset provider not based in the catalyst software package, or to use the 4.x series of TrackIR software, which is not OpenGL based. The latest version of the TrackIR 4 series software can be found here:

I�ll have to stick with TIR4 software,right? or is there a fix in the works for that?

You can disable the heads up display by editing an argument into the settings.xml file, however at that point you're not gaining anything by using the 5 series software.
