TrakIR 5 and mouse emulation

Hello this is my first post. I am a soon to be customer trying to make a purchasing decision between TrackIR 5 and TrackIR 4. Price is always a concern for me but I would most likely opt for the higher resolution and beefier hardware of TrackIR 5 if I knew I could make it work for unsupported games and possibly other applications, but it appears that mouse emulation is no longer supported. If I am mistaken I would very much like to know. Right now I am torn between the two, if 5 had mouse emulation it would be a no brainer. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi Flashpoint,
The mouse emulation utility is a software feature, and equally supported across all hardware versions that use the latest software (TrackIR 3, 4, and 5). The differences between TrackIR 4 and 5 are all going to be hardware-specific.

OK wonderful, I had read somewhere on a forum that TrackIR 5 did not support the software utility. Also it is covered in the TIR 4 manual but not mentioned in the TIR 5 manual as far as I could tell. I'm happy to learn that Track IR 5 supports the same mouse emulation software utility.

Just as an FYI--the mouse emulation utility doesn't enable "unofficial" support in all that many games. They'll still need to have a freelook function built in, which TrackIR's emulation could be mapped to. I just want to make sure that your expectations aren't too high for it, as it's really just a free addon tool--not a core feature.

Understood. Thanks.
