TIR5 with single reflector for yaw and pitch only?

Hi all,

I am considering a TIR5, but do not want to have to use the vector expansion or clip (I don't like wearing headphones or hat).

Is it possible to use the TIR5 to track a single dot as I used to use with my old TIR3? I appreciate that this will not allow 6DOF, but I just want to be able to look around in yaw and pitch in the "Rise of Flight" flight sim.

I used to use a single reflector dot stuck to the bridge of my glasses when I had a TIR3, which made for a very unencumbered experience and I would like to be able to do this with a TIR5.

Is this possible? If so, how would I set it up?

Thanks in advance.

RD

Answers own question:

Yes, it looks like using the v4 software will allow this, and it can be installed simultaneously with the v5.

Google is my friend.

Naturalpoint - Might be worth revising the v5 software to include a single dot as a target alongaside the clip and vector thingy?

Will now buy TIR5.

Cheers,

RD

Hi RocketDog:
Read with interest your post. Have a TR5 and have struggled with it for a long time. If I understand you want to use the TR5 with TR4 software. Would this enable you to simply look left or right and up and down. All I really want to do is visually find an airport that may be to the left or right of my heading as well as have the up & down for TO & Landings. If I understood what you are doing where do you get individual reflectors and place the camera. Thanks for any advice on this.

If you have a TIR5, you can also edit your profile in the TrackIR 5 software, and disable the x, y, z, and roll axes.

Thanks Mike for that info. After 2 years I still struggle with TIR5. Ever since Vincent told me I had to change the CFG file in FS. All I ever wanted was to fly smooth low and slow have full panel view without having to "crank" my neck down to see the full panel.Be able to see 90-120 degrees left and right of center. Somehow these things have escaped me to this point. I continue to appreciate and respect people who enjoy this thing to the fullest. Real world flying for me is easy compared to TIR.
