Mine does the same and is plugged into my HP DSX1200 laptop. I also have boot-up issues whereby I'm required to unplug then plug it in again. It then works fine. Using Windows 7 Ultimate.

I'm using Vista home premium 64-bit. I tried setting my profile a few times and it still does the same thing at start up. No change from before.
