Track IR 5 Won't Start

Hi, I fired up TrackIR 5.1.3 earlier, when it notified me of a software update. So I updated to 5.2.2, and the software no longer works. I reinstalled 5.1.3, but it won't work either. I've tried all manner of "Run as Administrator" voodoo, making sure the Triple Buffering was disabled, and all that, but no joy.

Win7 64, GeForce 570.

I'm completely stumped. Thanks in advance for the help! :)

Hi BPond,

I would completely remove TrackIR software and hardware. Than install TrackIR by right clicking and running as administrator like you previously stated. Restart the computer. Finally, install the TrackIR hardware.

Let me know if this works.

Most of the problems with program startup, on a Windows based machine, are usually related to the .NET Framework or the Visual C++ Runtime libraries. I have a post on the Eagle Dynamics forum about this, with a possible solution. Try going to the following link and be sure to follow the instructions very carefully:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Fix

There seems like a lot there, but the downloads are very small, while install/repair is usually very quick; if anything, the links for what you need are all in one spot.

The faulting module( bold above ) is not Microsoft or NaturalPoint. It is with Webroot SecureAnywhere by Webroot Inc. Do you have Prevx/Webroot SecureAnywhere installed? This Library( DLL = Dynamic Link Library ), is related to the Webroot SecureAnywhere software, and is doing one of three possible things here: 1. - It is blocking the Track IR software, 2. - It has not allowed the software to install properly, or 3. - It is corrupt and is causing a catastrophic failure in the .NET framework.

My experience is telling me that your problem may be all three, of the above mentioned possibilities. I think that Prevx/Webroot SecureAnywhere caused the TrackIR software to not install properly from the start, and then when it scans the file( as it is a 'real-time' scanner ), there is a problem with the library, and failing. Try uninstalling the TrackIR software, and then the Prevx/Webroot SecureAnywhere Security Suite. Then, install and run the TrackIR software. You may just need to re-install the Security Suite after the TrackIR software is functioning.
