Re: 2 Temp Fixes For Lock On Centering Issue
I have experimeted a bit with the workarounds and when I use the one where I look at where it actually does center and then hit recenter i can have a semiplayable experience. Whats very anoying is that I need to have a total smooth response curve for the TrackIR2 because a deadzone on my crotch really isn't usefull at all. The other annoying teing is that the game doesn't allways center the on the same spot. Sometimes I center and I'm looking out the left window or some other place - have you noticed that as well?
Also I still have to press the leftcntrl-rightshift to get an allmost full field-of-view but i can live with that

[Beavis]Uuuuhhhhhh huh huh, you guys have a dead zone in your crotch[/Beavis]
Unfortunately, so does my LOMAC experience. But hey! Glad to hear the good news, Charlie. Thanks for keeping up with the latest developements. You're alright, no matter what they've been saying about you. (kidding)

Nah, if people are saying bad things about me, it would probably be safe to believe them...

Re: 2 Temp Fixes For Lock On Centering Issue
I have the exact same situation as you say. Deadzone on the crotch and it doesnt recenter to the same place.
When I described all of this to Jim, he said that he thinks he knows exactly what the problem is and he called Carl to let him know. It was something in the programming that ED did that wasn't correct.
Now Carl can relay that information to ED and they can rework the entire TrackIR support for Lock On the correct way, from the information Jim gave them.
This means that, not only will the centering issue be fixed, but it will work 100% as it should..... at least that is the plan!!!!
I spoke with Carl myself and expressed my concern over the FOV issue. From real life experiance, I can honestly say the TrackIR FOV in Lock On, both the demo and retail, is incorrect.
The side to side is pretty good. IRL you can twist your body further to see back more, but I can live what what we have in Lock On. It is pretty close. But the y-axis is AFU. I cannot see past the canopy strut as it is now.
but, when you hit CTR-RSHIFT and speed up the cockpit mouse, the CORRECT FOV then takes effect. When I told this to Jim, he sounded VERY confident that he knew exactly what happened and conveyed all of this to Carl.
My point with all the "he said - she said" mish mash is that NP and ED are in communication and we have a pretty good idea what is wrong.
I sure hate waiting though....

Re: 2 Temp Fixes For Lock On Centering Issue
Great info here !! even if its not the best of news. As everyone I hope they get it fix very soon. I purchased TIR2 from a friends recommedations and the systems seems awesome but Lock On interface needs some work. I have all the same problems as everyone is reporting.
Im going to try the work arounds now. I hope one of them works well enough for now.
Thanks for the info

Re: 2 Temp Fixes For Lock On Centering Issue
Question:
When LOMAC is patched to work with Track IR, will we have the option to use "Enhanced mode", or are we stuck with "mouse emulation"?
I'm hooked on enhanced mode in FS2004 and IL-2 Forgotten Battles. The mouse mode just seems like the DARK AGES compared to how awesome the enhanced mode is.

You can use enhanced mode in Lock On now. It just centers on your crotch.
Once all is said and done, TIR will work in Lock On just like it does in FB and 2004, if not better.

Re: 2 Temp Fixes For Lock On Centering Issue
I am using the TracIR2 in Enhanced mode every day now.
First I press leftcontrol-rightshift to to unlimit the view. Then I do a rough centering by looking at the place it centers and hit center and from there on I hit keypad-5 to center. Theres quite some drift at times so I have to recenter pretty often and sometimes looking at my lap causes the the trackIR to sort of stick there somewhat.
The reason for doing the rough centering on startup and sometimes also later is that otherwise you suddenly have a sitiuation there your view is centered but that you can't look as far over one shoulder as you can over the other.
I use a flat curve with a speed of 7 and a smoothing of 70 for the TrackIR since deadzones are in the way atm
