2 Temp Fixes For Lock On Centering Issue
Re: 2 Temp Fixes For Lock On Centering Issue
For what it's worth, after the initial centering @ my lap I am able to move the view with my mouse to somewhere near the proper location then re-center and it works properly for me for the rest of the time I'm in the game.
Re: 2 Temp Fixes For Lock On Centering Issue
IMHO This is a comlete joke...makes the developers of Lock On look like beginners. Not Natural Point people though...
Having released a demo of a product that doesnt work as good as the final release, would be a "need to fix asap" IMO again. It hurts booth lock on, and natural point...if not more natural point, who promised support from day go...
Such a shame seeing it being handled like this...should have been a fix out there when release was...

I dont think you know what your saying.
First off, software development is nothing like the non-software developers think it is. As a programmer, I know this first hand.
While I do not agree fully with some of UBI's choices and handling of certain things with Lock On; the trackIR bug has nothing to do with any of this.
There is a phrase that American's use alot... it is Crap Happens (censored version). This means just that..... During one of the final builds of Lock On, the TrackIR commands somehow got screwed up. This doesnt mean they are amatuers. This doesnt mean they suck. It just means that CRAP HAPPENED.
If you do not plan on being part of the solution, and only come here to troll and add to the problem, I would like to see you disappear.
Cheers.

Re: 2 Temp Fixes For Lock On Centering Issue
Hello all and SALUTE
I just got LOMAC. I played it a few times now and I am just learning it. I run my trackir2 in enhanced mode on smooth and it works ok except for the centering problem. My question is this, I can't seem to look straight up very far with the trackir2 . I can look to the sides fine but when i track a plane that goes over my head I can only look about 20 or 30 degrees above center. I notice using the hat I can look all the way up and past almost to the back but not with the trackir. Does anyone else have this problem and is there a fix? BTW I play il2 FB with track ir2 and its like being in the plane smooth as silk.

Reload,
As soon as you get in the cockpit, look straight ahead and hit the TrackIR center key. When the view centers on your knees, continue looking ahead at your preferred center spot and hit KP 5 (Lomac's 'center' key) - this will center your view seperately from TrackIR.
Now you should be able to look up, down and side-to-side. Only problem I find is, the TrackIR 'center' tends to drift, especially if you look down. You'll be hitting the KP 5 a LOT, you might want to map the Lomac center command to a joystick button!
Hope this helps

Reload:
The FOV issue is supposed to be fixed in the patch as well.
The current work around it to press CTR-RSHIFT. This will speed up the mouse paning in the game and will remove the FOV hooks that shouldnt be there.
This will speed up your TrackIR movement as it will be much more sensitive. So, make sure to tone down your profile a little first.

It's very nice for everyone to suggest workarounds, but hwere's the official comment on what went wrong and more importantly when is it going to be fixed?
LOMAC was going to be THE flagship game for TIR and instead it's a complete farce.

Re: 2 Temp Fixes For Lock On Centering Issue
There is an "official" post, made by me, with the blessing of Jim Richardson in this room. The one titled, "Official Word from NP".
Since I like to pretend that I am a professional, I am not going to point fingers and lay blame as to who is to fault. All that matters if that it is getting fixed in the first patch from ED and that should be soon.
As for Lock On being the TrackIR flagship... uhm, no. TrackIR has been on the market for a few years now and has been very well known and mainstream since IL-2:FB. If any single entity is the "flagship" game, it would be that. But FS2004 would be a VERY close second.
Lock On just so happened to get "sloppy thirds".

Re: 2 Temp Fixes For Lock On Centering Issue
Thanks for the tips. The keypad5 helps alot after centering trackir. I didn't think about centering the game view itself because in il2fb I could just hit recenter in trackir and it would look foward. So its working a little better thanks. Also there is a trick you can do in the il2fb game by going to regedit and changing a number in one of the files. It gives you a straight six view. Is there a trick in Lock-on to do the same?
